Honey Owens is the first in a photo series of people important to us and our Portland community. We asked her to pick clothes from us, wear them how she would, and take some pictures of herself in them. An entrepreneur, musician, mother, and Portland iconoclast, her bands (Valet, Miracles Club) and businesses (Rad Summer, iamthatshop) provide some pathway to understanding what moves her, but like all the esoteric arts, a person could pay attention and still never get or need more than a gut emotional response to feel they found intimacy. That’s Honey’s style. Her own, instinctive, guidepost. An example of the life that brings dimension to material. It’s not about her singular personal take, it’s that she makes endurance look good. Process and persistence and peace. Whether it’s in work or friendships or making art, she’s a seeker who doesn’t necessarily mind not finding an answer. |
